I guess my two questions would be: 1. Did he know what the folks at the gathering represented? 2. Is cock fighting legal in KY? If the answer to #2 is in the affirmative, then I’d have to say all citizens deserve the opportunity to participate in the election process and he has the right to speak to ALL the people who will be part of his constituency if he gets elected. As far as I’m concerned, he has the right to campaign at a Hell’s Angel bar or a gay bar; if he so chooses.

Of course... I couldn't agree more. But the population of Free Republic isn't who he needs to win over... he needs to win a battle of narratives reaching the entire cross-section of voters, and attendance at a meeting of proponents of an activity that's largely seen as akin to dogfighting isn't the way to do it.
