WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A massive magnitude 8.0 earthquake on Tuesday off the coast of Chile, near the mining port of Iquique, sparked a tsunami warning for all of Latin America's Pacific coast, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
"An earthquake of this size has the potential to generate a destructive tsunami that can strike coastlines near the epicenter within minutes and more distant coastlines within hours," it said.

Check out Google maps for Iquigue, Chile. Satellite view. Looks vulnerable to a tsunami to me.
As these quakes keep “popping up” along the pacific rim’s ring of fire it was only a matter of time that one of them would be a monster.
8 points is really huge
CNN calling it an 8.2. Six foot tsunami in north Chile?
Buffalo know to get the heck out..they feel it before anyone else..if your dogs/cats start acting super weird, just run cause something’s about to go down
Which way?
The left will eventually blame all quakes on fracking.

Yes, it’s been upgraded.
They blamed the quake in Encino two weeks ago on fracking..I am going to blame liberal stupidity on fracking too
Be careful what you wish for.
i have an idea.lets funnel cow farts into the ground to ease the tension of the earthquakes.
If the Yellowstone Caldera blows, we’re not that far away. If it does, it’s been nice knowing all you FReepers.
It ususally erupts every 60,000 years. It has now been 64,000 years.
R R, thanks for the info. Animals have an uncanny sense about quakes...
Rut roh!
Bad moon rising....
Pinging y’all to this post!
I was told that by my Valley farmer friends! My two labs slept on a moving cement patio during Coalinga in 86! They had been swimming for a while but I gotta say..they were cute but dumb.
Loved em to pieces!
The last three Yellowstone eruptions have been roughly 600,000 years apart - not 60,000.
If it erupts in the next year, it won’t be early; if it erupts 10,000 years from now, it won’t be late.
Follow the animals!
