Military vehicles are frequently sold to local county highway departments to be used for highway and road maintenance. Our county recently purchased a number of the specialized vehicles which have since been converted for such purposes. While the fuel consumptions of the used military vehicles are much higher than the standard “commercial” type trucks, the military vehicle cost (to the counties and being much less than a new truck) makes them very desirable for purchase versus buying a “new” truck. I’d say give/sell them to the counties for their use and purposes, thus saving tack payers billions of dollars. Indeed it would hurt “new” truck sales over time but in the long run may prove to be a better deal.
