There is only one goal here—it’s not to teach critical thinking. If you read the assignment document, your eyes will glaze over. It’s really to teach the conclusion that it’s OK for the Constitution to be modified as your political betters see fit, because it’s too complicated to really think about as a school student.

This sounds like a variation on the school thought exercise “if you were to lose one of your senses, which one would you choose: sight, hearing, etc.” or in addition to losing sight or hearing, the use of one’s legs.
