LA Times Claims Obamacare Enrollments 'Surging'; Real Numbers Abysmal

In an attempt to find a bright spot in the Obamacare debacle, Los Angeles Times writer Noam N. Levey published an article Monday stating that “enrollment is surging in many states as tens of thousands of consumers sign up for insurance plans made available by President Obama’s health law.” Levey goes on to declare that several states have begun “outpacing their enrollment estimates” and are in some cases tripling enrollment rates: "In Minnesota, enrollment in the second half of October ran at triple the rate of the first half, officials said. Washington state is also on track to easily exceed its October enrollment figure, officials said."

Curiously missing from the article, however, were the actual baseline enrollment figures for states like Minnesota and Washington state whose sign-ups are "triple" and "on track to easily exceed" prior enrollment figures. Indeed, a careful analysis reveals the sad reality of the so-called “surge.”

UNEQUAL TREATMENT What makes a community healthy?

– By Noam N. Levey Reporting from BATON ROUGE, La.
March 9, 2014

Patients begin lining up outside Capitol City Family Health Center before the doors open at 7:30 a.m.

The clinic, on a ragged stretch of the boulevard that separates the black and white sections of town, is a refuge for thousands of this old southern capital’s poorest and sickest residents. They come seeking relief from diabetes, heart disease and other debilitating illnesses.

Twelve hundred miles up the Mississippi River, in the shadow of a public housing tower in St. Paul, Minn., the waiting room at the Open Cities Health Center also fills daily with the city’s poorest.

But the patients in Minnesota receive a very different kind of care, which leads to very different outcomes. They are more likely to get recommended checkups and cancer screenings. If very ill, they can usually see specialists. Their doctors rely on sophisticated data to track results.

Diabetics at the St. Paul clinic are twice as likely as those in Baton Rouge to have their blood sugar under control. That can slow the onset of more serious problems such as kidney failure and blindness.

Young patients with asthma also benefit from Minnesota’s more comprehensive medical system. Asthmatic children in the state’s poorest neighborhoods are 37% less likely than those in Louisiana to end up in a hospital.

It is certainly going to be fun to watch the train wreck of premiums going up for those foolish enough to have signed up.

Obamacare enrollment hits 4 million

By Noam N. Levey

February 25, 2014

WASHINGTON – Enrollment in health plans sold on marketplaces created by President Obama’s healthcare law has hit 4 million, the administration announced Tuesday, marking another milestone in the law’s implementation. The number suggests sign-ups have continued at a brisk pace in February, with about 700,000 people selecting an insurance plan so far this month.

From the article: As the law’s initial enrollment period closes, at least 9.5 million previously uninsured people have gained coverage. Some have done so through marketplaces created by the law, some through other private insurance and others through Medicaid, which has expanded under the law in about half the states.”

And what percentage is Medicaid? Is that really how Obamcare was billed, to increase the Welfare rolls? Was it billed as, you will get Medicaid? NO, it was billed as everyone will get affordable healthcare coverage. Of course, their premiums are going up, their level of coverage is down, etc., etc.

The ministry of propaganda has simply thrown in the towel in waiting for Obamacare to come through. Now, they will just report it as being a success and create their own reality.

"JUST the place for a Snark!" the Bellman cried,
    As he landed his crew with care;
Supporting each man on the top of the tide
By a finger entwined in his hair.

"Just the place for a Snark! I have said it twice:
That alone should encourage the crew.
Just the place for a Snark! I have said it thrice:
What I tell you three times is true."

Fox reported that almost 4,000 uninsured Texans had signed up for democrat care since the web site opened for “business”. If that holds true for most states, that number is total male bovine excrement.
