The Rats Are Leaving the Ship They Helped to Build
It is a pathetic sight Senate Democrats struck with Obamacare panic and the growing reality that there is no way out.
That has not stopped a group of Senators from proposing to fix the national health care law that is sinking their party and their presidents firm belief that big government liberalism can alter a huge chunk of the national economy.
It is more than a case of the rats leaving the sinking ship; the rats leaving the ship they helped to build.
Leading the group is two of the most vulnerable Democrats up for reelection this fall Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Mark Begich of Alaska. Then there is Mark Warner of Virginia, considered earlier a safe seat but now facing a formidable Republican challenge.
Then there are three Senators along for the ride to stick up for their party the always-unpredictable gadfly Joe Manchin of West Virginia plus freshmen Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Angus King of Maine.
The hapless group of Democrats showed more than a bit of chutzpah when they came up with a set of jaw-dropping proposals to alter and delay the ravages of Obamacare. It is a hopeless cause, but clearly, they think it is worth proposing something rather than standing idly by and watching the Obamacare tsunami swamp their Senate majority in November.
The group actually proposed a new Obamacare plan. They call it a Copper Plan to go along with the Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans offered on the Obamacare exchanges. The group said the Copper plan, which would provide lower premiums but higher out-of-pocket costs, would give consumers more choices and would make Obamacare more affordable. Fine time to think of that.
The groups Obamacare fix gets even more brazen. It calls for directing state insurance regulators to explore selling health insurance across state lines. Republicans have been proposing this change to national health insurance policy for years. Democrats have refused to touch it. Better late than never.
There is more. The group actually suggested allowing employers with fewer than 100 employees to expand voluntary coverage. Considering that this group makes up about 98 percent of all businesses, this would ditch the employer mandate for good.
It is too early to know if the groups Obamacare fix will see the light of day on the floor of the Senate. That is up to Majority Leader Harry Reid, now famous for proclaiming that Obamacare horror stories are lies.
Reid is in a bind. Along with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Reid is the presidents most enthusiastic Obamacare cheerleader. If he brings up the groups Obamacare fix, he will be admitting that the law is both a policy and political disaster. He will open the door for scathing Republican criticism right on the floor of the Senate.
There is no way to fix Obamacare. It is a national disaster. Only Republican majorities in the House and Senate, and eventually a Republican president, can attack the problem. Republicans should stick to their guns and let Senate Democrats further expose their panic and desperation.
I am so, so, sad for my country today! WE WILL NEVER EVER be rid
of this law!!! I am in DEEP MOURNING today!!! I DESPISE PUBBIES
TODAY absolutely DESPISE THEM!!!!
I would like to listen in to these lying, deceiving SOBs as they huddle to plan how they are going to flimflam the American voter one more time. They have just created a monstrosity that trashed the best health care system in the world and, yet, they believe they should be reelected to public office. Japanese executives would resign in shame over such a fiasco, but not these despicable schemers. They can only reach their position by believing the American voter is dumber than a door knob, and they may be mostly right.
Doesn’t matter how many BS plans they come up with,THEY ARE ALL CONTROLLED BY THE Government, that’s the problem, ask the democrats, who can question the Independent payment advisory board when THEY DENY PAYMENT to your insurance company on your crap plan because you have had your quota of Quality of Life Years, you are to old.Is that going to be mended?
I don’t hear anyone talking about that
I stood right next to this boat in Port Everglades, FL. It is around 280’ long. Apparently, Spielberg rents it out, so it is something of an “investment property”. Nevertheless, it is extravagant in the extreme. Personally, I don’t have a problem with that, but like you, I do have a problem with hypocrisy.
"I want my records back! Grrrr! I want my f***ing records back, you b****! Die! Die! Die!"
Kinison was awesome!
I think she’s looking more and more like Miss Piggy.
