GEORGE H.W. BUSH TO RECEIVE JFK 'PROFILE IN COURAGE' AWARD FOR BREAKING 'NO NEW TAXES' PLEDGE
Brietbart Big Government ^ | March 30 | Tony Lee

Posted on 03/30/2014 6:22:29 PM PDT by Hojczyk

For breaking his "no new taxes" campaign pledge and raising taxes before the 1992 presidential election, former President George H. W. Bush was named a recipient of this year’s John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation honored Bush for the "courage he demonstrated as President when he agreed to a 1990 budget compromise which reversed his 1988 campaign pledge not to raise taxes and put his re-election prospects at risk." Paul W. Bridges, a former mayor of Uvalda, Georgia, will also receive a Profile in Courage Award for opposing stricter immigration laws in Georgia.

Reagan conservatives never trusted George H.W. Bush even though he won the 1988 election by running for Ronald Reagan's third term, and Bush's betrayal on taxes confirmed that he felt more comfortable with the more moderate policies favored by the bipartisan establishment in the media and permanent political class. The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will present the awards in Boston on May 4, 2014.

Al Hunt, the longtime Washington journalist and columnist for Bloomberg View, chairs the fifteen-member Profile in Courage Award Committee which also includes former Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT); liberal Rep. Donna F. Edwards (D-MD); Adam Frankel, a former speechwriter to President Barack Obama; pro-amnesty Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC); John Seigenthaler, an anchor at Al Jazeera America; and former liberal Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-ME), a figure held in disdain by the conservative grassroots.

Seriously, I looked twice to make sure this article wasn’t satire.

***********

No kidding. In a normal world, one would receive the Profile in Courage award for standing in opposition against those trying to destroy or takeover our laws of our land. Not anymore :(

Bush tossed Reagan under the bus in his first day...it has been downhill ever since

Reagan should have known that he would do so from the get-go. The one thing that frustrates me about Reagan is why he didn't groom a successor. He should have given someone like Jack Kemp a high-profile Cabinet position.

To be fair Bush broke his promise after the dems agreed to cut spending two dollars for every dollar he raised in taxes.....

...and after the Dems threatened to cut funding to troops deployed in the field.

Perfect timing, coinciding with the rumors of Jeb’s possible run.

Well, We might as well give Obama the same award for breaking his “If you want your healthcare plan, you can keep it” pledge.

Republicans who raise taxes have a history of earning this award.

In 1953, J. Edgar Hoover published a book entitled “Masters of Deceit”. It was a narrative about the communist party of the USA. It explained their origins, their tactics and their goals. When reading, if you substitute the democrat party for the CPUSA, it reads like a narrative of what the democrats have been doing since the 1960’s.
George H.W. Bush is a good man, but he didn’t understand the demonrats. Neither did his son. Neither did Romney.
Very few in the repub party recognize the evil that the democrats are. That is why we are in such a pile of rotting kimchee. The party that is supposed to be standing up to the walking evil believes that they can compromise with them and strike some kind of deal with them.

So here we go down the evil bunny trial lead by very evil people with the “opposition” believing that agreeing with them on certain issues will win them popularity among the media and the uneducated masses.

Boys and girls, we are screwed.

The democrats vilified his "Read My Lips" to an electoral victory in 1992.

Reagan left the boy with a 220 billion dollar deficit.
The Dems stabbed him in the back and created an ultimatum!
Sorry guys I cannot jump on GH for that!
Every one blames W for the economy bust pre 0 but the Dems took the Nation down with their pandering in sub prime loans.
No one reads history but are quick to judge!

GHWB had a pretty good record on abortion, but he HATED for the subject to come up.

Now they are rewarding him for breaking his word.

The JFK people have been giving awards to Republicans for years—for breaking their word. Turning pro-abortion, for instance.
