I doubt he’s naive.....or at best he is willfully naive.
Deep down, I bet he knows the truth. I’d be willing to bet that even this fine professor gets nervous when he stumbles across a band of black youth...might involuntarily grab his wallet, switch to the other side of the street, lock his car door, etc. And I’d bet even more that he doesn’t do any of that when he runs into a group of white youth.
As a society, we sometimes expect too much from our schools. Teaching is a no- thanks-job with little financial reward. Still, entertainers like Gucci Mane have no place in the classroom. Teachers: keep imaginary and real life gangsters out of the school building. Oh, and if there is time left in the school day, please teach something that might help our children dream beyond the block and the recording booth.

In the last decade, Gucci Manes art has coincided with real life legal troubles, including at least ten arrests for drugs, parole violations, weapons, and attempted murder. In 2011, he pleaded guilty to throwing a woman out of a moving vehicle after she refused to have sex with him. After undergoing psychiatric treatment, Gucci Mane emerged from the mental hospital sporting a bizarre, three-scoop ice-cream cone tattoo on his face.

What a fool. No one's 'afraid of skittles and a hoodie' - people are afraid of a 6 foot tall black man knocking them down, getting on top of them and bashing their heads against a sidewalk.
That's the fear - NOT skittles. Is this guy stupid or what?
If he wants to see if it's 'skittles' he can give 5 bags of skittles to a group of Jewish kids - and have them walk through 20 neighborhoods. Nothing's going to happen. It's not the skittles...
If this professor would like young black men treated the same as young Jewish men, or young Asian men or young Hispanic men, or young white men then young black men need to start acting better. They need to study, make good grades, and behave in school... Things young Trayvon didn't do or care about...
