Ken Ham: The Unbiblical ‘Noah’ Is a Fable of a Film
Time Magazine ^ | Friday, March 28, 2014 | Ken Ham

Posted on 03/29/2014 7:03:30 PM PDT by Star Traveler

Leading creationist Ken Ham, who recently debated Bill Nye, says that the new blockbuster, starring Russell Crowe, is an insult to Christians: "Ultimately, there is barely a hint of biblical fidelity in this film. It is an unbiblical, pagan film from its start"

As a Creationist and also a believer in the historical account of Noah and the Flood, I agree with atheist Darren Aronofsky’s statement about his just-released film “Noah”: It is the “least biblical” of Bible-themed films. Any other agreement I have with the filmmaker’s take on the book of Genesis and its account of Noah ends right there. Further, I told a group of pastors earlier today that because I found “Noah” to be a boring 2½ hour movie, it may be the worst film I’ve ever seen.

Except for some of the names in the movie, like Noah, his sons’ names, and Methuselah, hardly any remnant of the Bible’s account of the Flood in Genesis 6-9 is recognizable. Yes, there is an Ark in the film that is true to the massive biblical proportions, but it did not look like a seaworthy vessel. There were many animals that came to Noah and went on board the Ark, but there were far too many creatures crammed inside and certainly many more than were needed. Also, while the extreme wickedness of man was depicted, the real sin displayed in the film was the people’s destruction of the earth. Lost within the film’s extreme environmentalist message is that the actual sins of the pre-Flood people were a rebellion against God and also man’s inhumanity to man.

Hrm. I just read an article about how the film’s “non-biblical” elements were largely from the Jewish Midrash. Stuff such as the “rock-people” that broke Eric Erickson up so much.

Ham? I guess he should know. Isn’t he one of Noah’s sons?

The best way to cut the “Unbiblical Cord” nourishing the Hollywood anti-faith crowd is simply not to patronize this tripe...

The director is so lucky. Not many movies are discussed so much that it ends up making 45-50 million in a weekend. This movie would have bombed had it not been for the conservatives making it a hit. The Director owes conservatives a ton for the success he is having and will have….hasn’t even gone Worldwide yet.

It wouldn’t be the first time Satan has rewritten the story. Ever hear of “The Epic of Gilgamesh”?

I saw this movie tonight. It was kind of long and boring to me. It is not at all biblically correct. The parts of the movie that borrow from the non-canonical book, Enoch, are likewise a huge departure. Save your dough and watch it when it comes to hbo or netflix.

After having read the details of what it is really about ... I don’t think I could make it even a few minutes into the movie.

Stuff like that just grates at me, when watching and it’s lying about the Word of God. I can’t sit still through that kind of stuff and I have to turn it off.

I understand some literary license, but this account of Noah doesn’t even use the name of God. It calls God “the Creator”. It was more of environmentalist picture than anything else.

This movie would have bombed had it not been for the conservatives making it a hit. The Director owes conservatives a ton for the success he is having and will have….

1. The word Christians comes to mind first for me and not the noun conservatives.

2. The studio people provoked religious organizations into making public comments which were used to drum up more publicity no matter what the reviewers wrote.

3. Many of the (younger) people who will see the movie, will never know the true story of the Bible. After such a rendering of the tale, many will not care to research the subject of Noah and the Flood any further.
