The search should have been near the eyewitness account of an airliner coming straight down off Vietnam.

Why??? It didn't go in the water there.

Both Malaysian and Thai military radar followed it from the point of diversion for an hour as it headed northwest toward the Andamans.

Thanks, but I’ll go with what the eyewitness said. After the report was made, large amounts of debris were spotted from the air multiple times.
