57 died, but the stat still stands from Tim Conway’s show. Since then, in the last 20 years, only 2 have died in California quakes.
Not too far from as earthquakes go. Did not feel a thing.
Conway also jokes that the chances of dying in a California earthquake are about the same as being struck by lightning while being eaten by a shark. LOL

Err, that was the pinpoint of the foreshock , the main 5.1 shock is listed on Caltech SCEDC was centered at 33.929N 117.922W , a bit to the northeast.
fat fingered it on account of another aftershock, ‘tis a bit to the northwest, not northeast. and another in a swarm of aftershocks hits at 2205.

Preliminary data suggests Friday night’s earthquake occurred on the Puente Hills thrust fault, which stretches from the San Gabriel Valley to downtown Los Angeles and caused the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake.
Friday night’s 5.1 earthquake hit only about 2 to 3 miles underneath the surface, which means the shaking is very concentrated in a small area, officials said.

Yikes that must have been scary as hell to have the ride stop and then realize you're in the middle of an EQ. Everyone OK though.
