50 years ago yesterday, I survived the big one here in Alaska (9.2)

Wow. Now THAT's a quake. I've been in a bunch of 'em (Ca native), the Northridge one was really terrifying. But I can't even wrap my mind around a 9.2, not even!

I had a friend who was in that one -- she was just a kid, had a great story about it, and how folks responded to it.

What was that one like? Where were you, what were you doing? What kind of stuff happened? Please share!

I was 10 years old, home alone after school. Started out just like any other quake and about 10 - 15 seconds into it it sowed abit and shifted gears. You could see the waves traveling through the ground just like swells in the ocean. Trees were swaying side to side ang the plywood exterior of my dads house flapped like a birds wings I jumped I into thre Back of
a pickup truck. Road it down the Driveway . as a ten year old kid I thought it was pretty cool!!
