I actually think Putin, after having taken the full measure of Obama, is allowing the U.S. (Obama) to throw down the gauntlet and finish the rounds of reassuring Eastern European NATO members. Why? Because he knows Obama is an empty suit, who will do nothing when the tanks roll.

He gets Ukraine either way, but by waiting, he may also get Eastern Europe, who will be too scared to challenge Russia in the future, with the U.S. having proved itself a paper tiger.

Since this whole situation is one that obama created, obama’s words mean nothing since obama said he was flexible.
