I don’t know what that means.
<>Was Flight 370 Flying Much Faster<>
Actually according to this and the new search area it was flying SLOWER — 400 knots rather than 450:

I vote plain old incompetence. The ptb aren't competent enough to cover up a rogue plane situation for this long.
What's truly astounding is someone is probably reading this post with all the spying going on, but nobody had track of where a huge airplane with hundreds of people on it is at all times in flight.
Their point seems to be that the Aussies have concluded from *reevaluation of radar data* that the plane was going much faster than they thought at first (why that took more than 10 seconds to report says something about MSNBC’s need to fill air time).
But what I don’t understand (presumably it’s way more technical than I assume) is why the data has to be reevaluated. If radar says the plane was at point A at time X, and point B at time Y, and you know the difference between A and B as well as X and Y, what’s to reevaluate?
Also Peter KIng who I don't like but has access to top secret info has said he is suspect of it crashing where they are saying along withe the Sec Def saying we can't rule anything out.
That is a good question, and I’m not being sarcastic.
Does anyone know what RADAR DATA they are talking about? AFAIK, there was no radar tracking of this aircraft once it was well out into the Indian ocean. Could this newscast be referring to the INMARSAT PING doppler and range data? If so, they should have said so. If they did I missed it.
A slower flight speed could be used to extend the range.
I notice that the new search area is right over that trench. How deep is that trench? Probably the deepest place in the Indian.
My Lady? The one that lives with me. I guess that’s pertinent
info regarding the thread. Inquiring minds gotta know!
According to a source I read the other day the Malaysian military admitted that it tracked the plane from 1:19 at the point it diverted to 2:40 on its way to point IGREX when it may have then headed south.
They wouldn’t have any other radar — however the Indonesians might.
For what it’s worth:
The revised search sector — about the size of Norway — was “based on continuing analysis
of radar data between the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca before radar contact was
lost (with MH370)”, AMSA said.
“It indicated that the aircraft was travelling faster than previously estimated, resulting
in increased fuel usage and reducing the possible distance the aircraft travelled south
into the Indian Ocean.”

Wouldn’t a slower speeed at a lower altitude consume just as much fuel as a faster speed at a higher altitude???
I don’t know —
Did anyone try looking on the moon. Didn’t the Russians find one our WWII bombers in a crater there.
Let’s put this into perspective. A this time we know the plane took off, it was on radar, it has tracking devices, it somehow vanished and the most brilliant people on the planet with the most advanced equipment cannot find it.
Yet we are to believe that the same people with the same equipment can tell us that man made global warming is destroying the planet and unless we pay Al Gore we are all going to die.
Okay so because it was travelling faster during the early part of the flight -- the first 2 hours -- than first thought it would have used up more fuel on that early part of the flight and not had enough for the last 5 hours of the flight.
