Ukrainian nationalists threaten to storm parliament after's leader killing

Over 1,500 nationalists from the Right Sector have circled Ukrainian parliament in Kiev threatening to storm it on Thursday. They demanded the resignation of the interior minister after their leader Muzychko was killed in a police operation.

Up to 2,000 members of the Right Sector, which recently was revamped into a political party, flooded the square in front of Verkhovna Rada in the Ukrainian capital on Thursday night. The radicals, who brought car tires to burn with them, were banging on the Parliament’s doors, smashing the glass parts in them.

Wearing masks and brandishing bats, they were shouting "Avakov, get out!"

The parliament building was empty except for guards, some administrative staff and reporters. All the MPs had earlier left the building through an underground tunnel, RIA Novosti reported.

The protesters were threatening to break into the parliament if their demands were not met, journalists reported from the scene. The Rada’s security in the meantime concentrated in front of the entrance to the building and prepared water cannons, urging the journalists inside not to approach the windows looking onto Constitution Square.

Several hours into the standoff activists announced the rally was over for tonight as they decided not to storm the building just yet, but reconvene tomorrow.

Whatever the case, it seems to be over for tonite, with the protestors told to return at 9AM local (10 hours from now)

They want Interior Minister Avakov removed for killing the Internationally-wanted Aleksandr Muzychko, also known as Sashko Bilyi.

I guess their protests against the government tomorrow could be more helpful to possible Russian troop movements going into the weekend.

Who are the leaders of this Ukrainian “revolution”?

In Poland, we knew who they were: Walesa and the other members of Solidarity....In Czechoslovakia, they had Havel.

It takes a central figure who can unite the people to make for a successful revolution, all I see in Ukraine is chaos. And it doesn’t take Russian propaganda to see that.

I thought the pro-Bandera’s here on FR told us that the “violent Right Sector” was just a creation of Russian Propaganda?

“guess their protests against the government tomorrow could be more helpful to possible Russian troop movements going into the weekend.”

Ukraine is fast slipping in to anarchy.

Anarchy? Send in the Russian army. Man, you’re sick. You’d have been a great Goebbels.

this is why I don’t think Ukraine, or its people, has a hope. They are statist orphans who fell off the dying Soviet Union, but have no clue about self-governance or true independence.

would not 1500 men who are angry at Russians better achieve their goals by thinking of ways to go to Crimea to attack Russians - instead of attacking their own parliament?

There is no government of Ukraine.

The entire country is little more than fractious mobs.

They ran the government out of town.

"Yeah, quoting RT should be a good way to to debunk the anti-Putinistas, comrade."

A well trained and disciplined Boy Scout troop could take Ukraine in 2 days.

It doesn't take a "Putinista" to see that.

I don't think it's necessary to mock them, but you'd think they would at least take up arms in their won defense.

All I can figure is that, other than the neoNazi's in the West, most Ukrainians would welcome some law and order.

And people say that I’m wrong for saying FReeRepublic Putinistas don’t cheer for Putin. Comrade, you’re spot on. You’re reasoning shows why communism and Putinism appeals to the lowbrow, the philistine, the dilettante, and the dunderhead. Go forth and advocate vile things, comrade.

Well, if I was into conspiracy theories, I’d say that The “Right Sector”, and YOU, are on the Russians payroll, paid to make the Ukrainians look like idiots, so that the Russians are justified to take control.

...if I was into conspiracy theories.
