Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson said Tuesday that the United States should be pleased about Russia annexing the Crimea, calling it a virtually bloodless transfer of power.
At a Foreign Affairs Committee mark-up Tuesday, Grayson said that the referendum in Crimea was the entirely legitimate vote by a group of people who were upset that their chosen leader, ousted Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, had been removed from office. The role of Russian forces, in his telling, was simply that of peacekeeper.
You may say that [Yanukovych] was thrown out of office for good reason. There are allegations against him that he was corrupt, there are allegations against him that he used the military against his own people to stay in power. But the fact is that from the perspective of the Crimeans, their leader, the one that they placed in charge of their country, was thrown out of power, Grayson said. So it should come as no surprise
that the Crimeans had had enough, and they wanted to leave this artificial entity called the Ukraine.(continued)

I’m glad Grayson has stopped beating his wife.
Except for the part where Russia was true to its corrupt, totalitarian form. That is, their stuffing of votes, observers being generally from the old USSR, and roughing up anyone not going by their script.
At the least, it is something not to be recognized. At the most, something to contain(before it spills over to anyone else) by standing firm against Russia. Either way, stop only when Russia backs down. Unfortunately, this administration will do nothing that is truly effective.
#17: Ouch! Double Ouch! and WINNER!
I wonder what Grayson is going to say and do when the Spanish try to take back the Spanish speaking parts of Florida?
If option A is chosen, expect the 21st Century version of the Sherman option to be on the table, preceded by a northward relocation of weapons. Whatever is left, Texas will use to give a very good fight. Expect the deaths to be in the millions when all is done.
Option B is highly unlikely given that the departure would not go pleasantly. It would only happen if Option A renders Texas uninhabitable.
NATO has overplayed its hand. After the fall of the old Soviet Union, we convinced Russia to withdraw its troops from the old Soviet bloc nations by promising that we wouldn't advance NATO into the voids they left behind. Then in 1999 and in 2004, we added 12 new NATO members across Eastern Europe. That was pretty slick, but Russia took notice.
In 2008, Russia invaded Georgia to prevent NATO from expanding east of the Black Sea. Now the West has helped depose Russia's Ukrainian ally, and in response Russia has annexed Crimea and is now on the verge of splitting Ukraine in two. Who couldn't see this coming?
Rohrabacher and Grayson were saying similar things.
Rohrabacher called out the backing of Al Qaeda in Syria.
He probably is also pleased by his beating of his divorcing wife as a bloodless transfer of power.
Is Alan Grayson trying to make Sheila Jackson Lee look like Einstein?
