Well, I never lived in Saudi Arabia. But as this kind of behavior towards Christians is endemic to all Islamic societies, it hardly surprises me. As employees of Aramco, my guess is your husband and you were insulted from the “real” Wahhabist nightmare.

Well, I never lived in Saudi Arabia. But as this kind of behavior towards Christians is endemic to all Islamic societies, it hardly surprises me. As employees of Aramco, my guess is your husband and you were insulted from the “real” Wahhabist nightmare.

We ARAMCONS had a priest on-camp who said daily Mass. The ARAMCONS also had a vicar for the six Anglicans and a minister who took care of the flock of all the Protestants.

Fridays were "holy days" as our "weekends" were Thursdays and Fridays. So I was off those days and was supposed to go to Mass on Fridays.
I rebelled. I wanted to go to Mass on SUNDAYS!

Well there WAS daily Mass so I would leave my work and walk the 3-minute walk across the street to the club-house where Mass was said on SUNDAYS.

My co-worker, Harry, a Catholic from India, got SO annoyed with me because he said that I should go to Mass on FRIDAYS like everyone else did. I objected and continued to go to SUNDAY Mass at 9:00 A.M. I would ALWAYS make up the 20 whole minutes at my lunch hour. I NEVER failed to make up the time.

Well, Harry got fed up with me and said he was going to "tell on me" to our Muslim boss, Muhammad Hussein. And he did.
Harry, my Saudi boss, Muhammad Hussein (They only got "surnames" when ARAMCO insisted.) and I met in the hallway and Harry let loose with my leaving for Mass on Sunday mornings.

I will NEVER forget Mohammad's answer to Harry. He said: "Harry, God is number one. There is always time for God. Cloud Mountain (obviously not my real name) can go to pray whenever she wants to."

I don't know WHOSE jaw fell farther or faster, Harry's or mine. So I did go to Sunday Mass. In fact, I thought, if I REALLY believed that the priest has the authority to call forth the Holy Spirit to change bread and wine into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus and WE have the privilege to consume them...WHY wouldn't I want to go to DAILY Mass? Well, I did want to and I did from then on.
I still go to daily Mass years later, here at home in the U.S.A.

Imagine, getting that kind of faith and boost in the Land of the Muslims, from my very kind and God-loving Muslim boss, Mohammad Hussein.

God REALLY does work in mysterious ways, doesn't He?
