Missing Malaysia Airlines Plane: What We Know Now

The search for evidence of Malaysia Airlines flight #MH370 was suspended today because of rough weather, but the number of ships and planes heading to the area to hunt for the missing plane is growing.

The lack of concrete data about what happened to the plane and its 239 passengers has left their families - and the world - with more questions than answers.

Here's what we know now as of now about the investigation into missing flight MH370.

Satellite Data Shows When, Where Plane Went Down
• The Malaysian government announced Monday that new data, analyzed in a groundbreaking way by British company Inmarsat, showed the flight ended in the south Indian Ocean, 1,500 miles off the coast of Perth, Australia.
• The data also showed that the plane went down between 8:10 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. local time.
• Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday that there were likely no survivors of the flight, sending shock waves through the families of passengers who had gathered in Beijing to await word on the search for the plane. Many family members protested Malaysia's handling of the investigation and accused the government of lying and hiding the truth.

Search Focused on Alaska-Sized Area Off Australia
• The search along a possible "northern corridor" has been called off. Search teams are now squarely focused on the area in the south Indian Ocean.
• The current search area is some 469,407 square nautical miles, which is equal to 621,000 square miles on land. It is an area about the size of Alaska.

Agree. We’ll never know the truth.

I suspect the passengers were held for ransom. Since the last of them are probably now dead the governments want to convince the family members there is no hope and their loved ones are in the ocean - not in a mass grave in Pakistan or some other Muslim country.

Israel was probably the holdout insisting that no ransom be paid or no high profile prisoners released. That’s why Barry distanced himself leaking that he was trying to have Netanyahu replaced. Also they probably offered up Pollard to get Israel to agree.

What exactly is this “new, ground-breaking way” the data was analyzed?

Presently, data analysis accounts for roughly 50% of the world’s work hours.

I’m sure there are one or two people who could understand a description just a tad more sophisticated than “new and ground breaking.”

It’s is apparent the flight continued for 6 to 7 hrs by the time line in this article. This leads to speculation the plane was hijacked and the pilot took a course to prevent further harm. It may be possible it flew on it’s own for that length of time but is doubtful.
The other scenario would be the pilot ran a suicide mission and took it as far out to sea as he could.
Whatever the case, Clueso will have to work overtime to solve this one>
Solid evidence of this being the crash site would helpful!

That's as good as my theory. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the plane was sitting in a hanger at Diego Garcia AFB. I think the flight crew, led by the senior pilot, decided to defect, had a plan to do so, and perhaps even got some advice as to how to avoid most radar coverage and when to arrive at the landing point when known satellites would be blind to their arrival. Then the Malaysian cover-up was so embarrassing, and the paranoia of national security folks about other nations knowing their capabilities (or lack thereof) became so great, that none of this can come to light.

I would expect that after a few months, passengers will start to emerge here and there with stories to tell, the crew will enter the witness protection program somewhere and the plane will be dismantled, etc.

Thought my story was the most entertaining. American space based laser test meant to warn the Chinese and Norks from doing something crazy while the Russian incursion in Crimea was taking place. Burned out the planes radar and communications and knew based on air time, the plane would crash in an area where no one but the US could get to it.

They have found no physical evidence of the plane and they still have several days left before the batteries die on the black (orange) box. Suddenly, they sure seem to want to put this under the rug.
