Actually, Apple Computers was named after the Apple Record label. Apple Computer signed an agreement with Thorn-EMI, Ltd., that prohibited Apple Computer from ever becoming involved in the sale or distribution of music. Years later, that agreement was modified allowing Apple Computers to do what they are doing, in return for sizeable "consideration" given to Thorn-EMI.
