I doubt that there is new information -- just confirmation of the old information. The location given by the PM today is the same that has been out there for over a week in Inmarsat's Arc of the Last Ping.
Yet in light of all of this and with 14 nations searching off the coast of Australia, the Malaysians were still insisting that it went down in the Andamans and that after they insisted it went down in the South China Sea and that after they denied that they caught it on radar.
The Malaysians are just saving face by claiming that there is new data. It's just taken them a long time to come to grips with the old data.
The difference here is that instead of saying it was either this northern route or the southern route - they now gotten further analysis that has gotten it narrowed down to the southern route. “That” is the difference today.
