Lincoln’s notion of leadership meant molding public opinion, not genuflecting before it. Real political leadership means pushing public opinion toward one’s conviction of what is right.

The NRSC called here today. The nice lady says they need my membership to help save the country by electing conservatives. I laughed in her face and asked her to name one conservative they supported. She said, “Ted Cruz.” My response was, “He isn’t even running this year.”
The GOPe needs my money to educate and recruit college students, she said, and to get the best candidates to run.
I had heard enough and told her that when the Republicans woke up and supported conservatives, not just incumbents, not to call me. I’d call them.
