NY Times tries to explain to readers how Catholic enemy Barry could have been nurtured in the “social justice” wing of the church and how to spin his meeting with Pope Francis.
There may be a revelation that Barry’s girlfriend in 1988 was named Saila. In the article there is this reference to Barry dating “another woman”:
quote
He was a man of integrity, very much to my disappointment, joked Cynthia Norris, then the director of the Chicago Archdioceses black Catholics office, who found the young Mr. Obama appealing. The future president, who was dating another woman, did turn to Ms. Norris for a Harvard Law School recommendation, and kept in touch during a trip to Europe in 1988.
I wander around Paris, the most beautiful, alluring, maddening city Ive ever seen; one is tempted to chuck the whole organizing/political business and be a painter on the banks of the Seine, Mr. Obama scribbled to Ms. Norris, along with Love, Barack, on one side of a postcard. On the other was a picture of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame.
end quote
The picture image of the postcard is provided and it mentions that Ms Norris something in his mailbox (probably money) and he says “I trust Saila retrieved it.”
The reference to “Saila” by name was left out of the text of the article but reference to Barry dating “another woman” was included directly in context!
I couldn’t make out the “S” in Saila at first and didn’t recognize it as a name, male or female, but after an internet search it is a very rare girls name. The rarity should aid in finding out who this person was.

Thanks, Seizethecarp.

What nationality or ethnic group uses the name?
I have to run, but wanted to quickly mention that a brief 2009 article (which perhaps the NY Times cited—didn’t have the time to check) was written about the postcard by C. Norris’ sister on page 13 (of 20) of the pdf found here: http://catholic-sf.org/files/digital_paper_200901273306.pdf
Interestingly, the mention of Sheila was also excised in preference for ellipsis in the 2009 article.
