According to the US `Fleet street’/4th estate,’ we only have an Imperial/monarchial presidency when a non-Democrat is in residency in the WH.
NBC is calling First Lady high-water slacks/boob belt/panty lines/garish color combos a `Hip Fashion Icon.’
Banned from the trip, the alphabet news agencies still drag themselves forward on their bellies, ears down, whimpering and tails between their legs to lick her $500 sneakers.
Btw, back in 1776 the king still had power, even if he was loony tunes/otherwise, your point is well taken; perception is reality.

I should clarify: the Monarchy you threw off over 200 years ago did indeed have real powers (though not absolute powers, since the Magna Carta, and many other developments in the “unwritten constitution” of Britain). Washington (the man) specifically rejected the trappings of monarchy. Since then, the British (and Canadian) monarchy continued to evolve toward a largely symbolic role — meanwhile, your Presidency does seem to be quickly evolving in the Imperial/monarchical direction.
