Rand Paul has taken a position against social conservatism and for gay marriage, and for changing the party platform.

Question:
Right. But it seems what they’re saying is that the Republican Party should stay out of issues like gay marriage.

Rand Paul:
I think that the Republican Party, in order to get bigger, will have to agree to disagree on social issues. The Republican Party is not going to give up on having quite a few people who do believe in traditional marriage. But the Republican Party also has to find a place for young people and others who don’t want to be festooned by those issues.

This thread is about abortion and the issue was whether pro-life politicians could win.

Respectfully, Rand Paul may well be saying let the States or other local government, local voters decide on Same Sex Marriage, in fact, he could be saying that about Social Issues in general. That’s the only reason I said this thread is not about that in particular because it’s a bit of an argument that one would have to go in depth about.
