(CNSNews.com) -The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights is calling for a boycott of Guinness and Sam Adams beer to protest their brewers decision to pull their sponsorships of Monday's St. Patricks Day parades in New York and Boston respectively, League president Bill Donohue told CNSNews.com.
Earlier this week, the beer companies announced that they were not sponsoring the parades, which draw up to a million spectators, because organizers would not allow participants with signs identifying them as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender (LGBT) to march.
But Donohue says he is already seeing a backlash.
Ive never seen such a quick, visceral reaction, he told CNSNews.com. I think its due to a couple of reasons. Number one, its an easy issue to understand. Anybody can march in the parade. What you cant do is march under your own banner; in other words, if you have a political cause.
Pro-life Catholics, as I emphasize, are not allowed to march in the parade under their own banner. If you happen to be pro-life, you can march. You can be pro-choice and you can march. You can be gay or straight and you can march. What you cant do is have your own banner.
I already have started my boycott of both.
That too. Pelosi should’ve been excommunicated
bump
Simply do not idolize anyone. The decline in American culture is paralleled by the propensity of a vapid population to worship celebrities whether they be actors, politicians or historical figures. Sam Adams was a lifelong anti British political activist. He hated royalty , Parliament and his fellow native born Americans who didn’t. Most of all he hated Catholics. He was bigoted and had no tolerance or kindness for anyone he passed his ugly Puritan judgement. His malfeasance was whitewashed for political reasons much the way its done today. Try studying and thinking clearly. May do you some good.
Although the Catholic Church is very Pro-Life, they don't have the nerve to publicly and swiftly and thoroughly excommunicate this witch and any other politician that believes in this horrendous holocaust of our unborn and newly born children.
55,000,000 slaughtered since 1973 and at least 3,300 each and every DAY, and we worry about baby seals and beached whales.
Now becoming known as queer beer.
And there are thousands of fake "catholic" baby-killer politicians out there, nationwide, stealing the Catholic vote.
If The Church doesn't have the nads to do it, it sounds like a great mission for the hundreds of thousands of Catholics who want to resurrect the credibility of their faith:
Out these murdering perverts, and get some moral people in there to properly represent the conservative values of the Catholic Church.
As someone who is interested in converting to Catholicism, I would not set foot in a church that is celebrating Mass with her in attendance. If she and others like her can receive the Eucharist, there should be no restrictions on those who might otherwise be denied.
Correct. Its a demographic issue. Young people buy beer and support gay rights, so the beer companies will support gay rights.
And the irony of the Catholics(organized religion) opposing gay rights is that young people are boycotting organized religion.
Around the world, falling birth/fertility rates are accompanied by rising educational rates and rising incomes. But those parts of the world projecting high birth/fertility rates will remain with lower educational rates and poverty. Organized religion thrives on ignorance and poverty.
You are onto something. Her continued reception of communion (from the hands of bishops,no less) is part of a coordinated effort to remake the church.
As someone else posted the other day, it is a hallmark of the left to have wacky, fringe, front groups working to distract the public from what is really going on behind the scenes at the highest levels. That post in particular was about loony "nuns" but it could've been about Nancy Pelosi who referred to abortion as "sacred ground." What on earth did she mean?
Have you sought out a traditional Latin mass in your area? Priests who offer mass in the extraordinary form are almost universally orthodox and their preaching is typically scholarly and edifying. I encourage you to look into it. God bless.
Guinness is its own worst enemy; you can’t drink more than a couple without serious digestional issues the next day. Easy to jump on this boycott; none of them are particularly appealing to me, and were only used as last resorts (when a place didn’t have real beer).
“We cannot boycott what we do not drink anyway, but will avoid even sales for Sam Adams, Guinness, and Heineken.”
Heineken in my area has become a ghetto beer; for them it is a fine “import” and shows status...
Try studying and thinking clearly. May do you some good.
My, my. Aren’t you an arrogant bitch.

I didn't know that.
I was thinking next of "Murphy's Irish Stout", but a quick search on that showed it as being distributed by Heineken too.
How about "Dad's Root Beer"? (They aren't connected to Heinekens, are they?)
