CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has used the military, legislative and judicial power consolidated during 15 years of socialist rule in a sudden series of blows against opponents who have spent more than a month protesting in the streets, knocking down their barricades and throwing dissident leaders in jail.....

Maduro's rivals said they would not be bullied into submission, vowing new marches.
Two-time opposition presidential candidate and Miranda state Governor Henrique Capriles said through his Twitter account Thursday that Maduro had "thrown gasoline on the fire."
"He and only he will be responsible for the situation that unfolds in the country," Capriles wrote....
.....U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki expressed concern Thursday over the arrest of the two mayors. "The Venezuelan government should stop the violence against its citizens and opposition officials who are exercising their freedom of speech," Psaki said.

I suspect that the Obama Administration is looking at the situation with great interest, and hoping that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is successful because the Obama regime is mimicking their techniques of suppressing the middle class.
If elected, Hillary will gleefully finish the embalming job Obama’s doing on freedom and capitalism.
Castro’s hanging on to see the fruits of his labor. Hugo Chavez won’t make the celebration party but I could almost write the guest list myself.
I’m so sick of neocons pushing US action over the Ukraine, where we have no direct interest, while ignoring Venezuela where we do.
Biden did criticize Maduro’s actions in a written interview with a Chilean newspaper the other week.
I find it funny that Maduro is attacking the “elements of the United States government” that he says are threatening his regime.
Maduro has said nothing negative about Obama but in blaming the US for the opposition protests, actually called John Kerry a “murderer”.
