The simple fashion of fixing the non-counted military ballots is a simple worded law. If ever proven that your county’s ballots for absentee military members were not counted, then you render $2,000 to each member of the military that voted in that particular year....payable from the county general fund.
That would get the county commission intensely interested in the outcome and standing over the county clerk and county judge in this effort. You can imagine just fifty such non-counted votes and the impact of losing $100,000 for a moment of stupidity or political greed.
A good idea, but county officials won’t be able to oversee the transport of ballots from the overseas bases.
