NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine (AP) — Police armed with assault rifles descended on a Maine man’s home after members of a tree removal crew he’d told to clear off his property reported that he had a gun.

Turns out the “gun” the tree crew had seen on Michael Smith of Norridgewock was just a life-sized tattoo of a handgun on his stomach.

How did they see his stomach in the middle of winter?

There’s more to this story.

Something seriously wrong here.
The man was not threatening. There was no crime.
Obviously the establishment is trying to criminalize the legal posession of a gun by non-violent citizens.

(While deliberately leaving guns in the hands of hardened violent criminals)

Even if he DID have a gun, was he “brandishing” it? It was his property he was on.

From the NRA State Laws:

MAINE STATE CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION

“Every citizen has a right to keep and bear arms and this right shall never be questioned.”
Article 1, Section 16.

It is unlawful to carry any firearm concealed about the person without having a concealed carrying permit. This includes carrying in an automobile glove compartment, or other area where the firearm is under the person’s control. It is not unlawful to carry a firearm openly.

Yanno, my pappy used to say "just because you can, that doesn't mean you should." Seems to me that a gun tattoo on your stomach would not be a good idea during a dark roadside encounter with a traffic cop.

There’s more to this story.

Utility company sent tree crew to do some trim a tree.
Utility did not notify man or neighbors.
Man was sleeping and was awakened at 10am by tree crew.
Man comes out of house, shirtless, and confronts crew to get them to stop and leave so he can resume sleeping.
Wimpy little girly men on tree crew see what they believe to be a pistol in man's waistband. They call police who come with ARs deployed. No charges filed against man or tree crew.

My take is...so what if man DID have a pistol? Open carry is legal in Maine.

It is very telling, the state we find our once free nation in, when LEO wouldn't tell the complainant that owning a gun is not illegal, especially on their own property; but instead, sends people armed with assault rifles to "check it out".

It all comes down to intimidation. That's what this lawless government wants to do do those of us that wish to remain free.
