Do you know what the topic was that he was addressing?

We have been seriously considering the Saginaw,Bay City,Midland areas. IN fact it is our first choice.

A lot more info in this story. Sounds like it may be mostly about a dispute over some land he owns.

BTW the current political makeup of Michigan. Midland is right on the edge of that northern blue district.

Bridgeport Township is basically an extension of the City of Saginaw which is nicknamed Sagnasty. Saginaw County is democrat, but there are some good republican parts in the county like Frankenmuth. Part of the county is Kildee's (D) district and part of it is Camp's (GOP-E) district. Camp has a primary challenger. Midland is fairly conservative and republican, especially for a city. Bay City is a union town.

I grew up about 90 minutes from that area just north of Roscommon. Once you get north of Bay City/Midland, it's all country. I loved it up there.

Midland County and portions of Saginaw County are represented by Dave Camp (4th CD), an establishment GOPer who is chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. If you didn’t know it already, Midland is home to the Dow Chemical Company. There is an oil and gas belt that runs through this part of Michigan, starting west of Big Rapids, and lying underneath places like Mount Pleasant and Alma, over to Midland (and presumably out underneath Lake Huron). Dow has been controversial over the years, but the river upon which Midland is located (the Tittabawasee) is cleaner below the Dow plants in Midland than it is upstream.

The long narrow blue strip is CD 5, which is represented by ‘Rat Dan Kildee of Flint. CD 5 takes in the large ‘Rat towns which used to be dominated by General Motors and subsidiaries: Flint, Saginaw and Bay City.
