He did indicate as others have that Israel is taking extra precautions to defend against an attack involving this new "extra" 777. As for committing ships and planes to a phony search, I would point out that such ruses are routinely employed to shield real interests and actions elsewhere.

If that plane with 152 Chinese onboard was in Pakistan the Chinese government would be sending an armada there through the Malaccan Straits to get their citizens back.

Furthermore to get to Pakistan it would have to get through Indian radar without detection and the possibility of that is near zero.
