Turkey will close the Bosphorus for Russian ships, if there is violence against the Crimean Tatars, said Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan.
In a phone conversation with Russian president Vladimir Putin, quoted by a diplomatic source, Erdogan also said that Turkey will not recognize the referendum in Crimea in which 97% of the voters cast their ballots in favour of joining the Russian Federation.
“Turkey wants Ukraine to keep its territorial integrity,” Erdogan said. “If NATO takes a decision on the matter, we will certainly stick with it.”
Earlier Erdogan had a phone conversation with the leader of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev in which they discussed the threats against the Tatars in connection to the factual annexation of Crimea.
This is a joke, right? Putin would make mincemeat of that Islamic idiot Erdogan. He is going to close the Bosporus on Putin??? Turkey’s entire economy is dependent on Bosporus shipping. All he wants to do is take his citizens’ attention off of the mess he has created in Turkey.

Turkey is a member of NATO, which operates on the principle of mutual defense.
An attack on a NATO member is considered an attack on all.

Uh-oh. An Orthodox superpower against the (recently) most Westernized Muslim nation over Constantinople? This could get ugly. Fortunately, I think Russia wants nothing to do with mistreating Tatars, given their relations in Central Europe.
In all honesty, we are likely to see the breakup of NATO, the EU and the UN.
Because not ONE of the countries in them will risk war with Russia/China, nor the economic hell China would bring to bear on them.
Only we under goading from RINOs like McCain and the coke fantasies of Barry are stupid enough to even consider it.
I would love to see the Russians humiliate him.
Perhaps Putin can “liberate” the Turkish Kurds and the Turkish Armenians while he's at it?
Most of the NATO countries are being invaded by Islamo-Fascists.
So why does Turkey care about Ukraine? Are they just missing up for the EU?
Which is partly why western countries won’t risk it. The muslims in these countries will see any war with Russia as the go order to launch jihad and achieve their caliphate.
Muslims will sacrifice any number of their fellows to achieve their goals. If that means Turkey, so what? they advance across the west. Net gain for Allah.
Now of course they would get crushed in many areas. But chaos is their guiding principle. And that scenario is their calling card for warfare.
All the western countries suddenly faced with terror throughout their territories will quickly abandon Geneva, Brussels and most/all UN dictates to save themselves.
Because the people will be screaming for salvation.
Of course, this time, Obama and Erdogan would aim the missiles at Israel.

We can be reasonably certain that Putin is taking Erdogan's protestations far more seriously than he is taking Obama's and Kerry's.

Not supporting Putin doesn’t mean you love Obama.
I agree with others that doubt NATO’s resoluteness when it’s time to go to war with Russia, especially over Turkey.
