The Putinistas are waiting with baited breath for Putin to bomb Kiev as payback for Belgrade/Kosovo/whatever. Sad to see some people treating this like a spectator sport. Sad to see those sentiments on FR. This is real and there is a strong likelihood that a lot of people are about to die in Ukraine.

If I could go back a hundred years, I’d tell the Austrians that no matter what happened to their Archduke, fighting over it wasn’t going to end well.

Now, I feel like no matter what Putin does, his re-uniting Russia and the Ukraine (oddly split in the first place, imho), isn’t worth WWIII.

I agree. I have a hard time understanding on a conservative website like FR that people are spouting the Russian line defending the annexation of part of a sovereign country by a KGB thug who has ruled Russia for almost 14 years and continues to attack civil liberties.

We are very close to outright hostilities that can spread very quickly with disastrous effects for all of us.
