MOSCOW, March 17, /ITAR-TASS/. President Vladimir Putin on Monday, March 17, signed a degree recognising the Republic of Crimea as a sovereign and independent state.
1. Considering the will of the peoples of Crimea expressed at the all-Crimea referendum on March 16, 2014, I hereby decree that the Republic of Crimea, where the City Of Sevastopol has a special status, be recognised as a sovereign and independent state, the decree said.
The decree entered into force upon signature, the presidential press service said.
It was a reference to WWII, he is not invading Poland. He HAS taken Chechnya, half of Georgia, Crimea, and is creeping up on East Ukraine. The point is that we have an aggressive dictator that needs to be stopped.
Whats our national interest in Crimea?
If Putin wants Urkel's opinion about the Crimea, he'll pull Urkel's mom jeans up around his ears till MomJeans SCREAMS it out like the little girl he is.
When wood stoves are outlawed by the EPA, only outlaws (and government agencies) will have wood stoves...
Given the number of commies in Washington DC, we might expect Putin to tell is that Washington DC has a special status, and will be recognized as a sovereign and independent state.
OK, I have to know what that bigger dog is. We’ve got a 120-pound Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd/Walker Coonhound cross and that beast makes our Bear look like that husky. Caucasian Mountain Dog mix maybe?

Oh, that tawny one is an Akita, not a Husky. I still want to know what that monster one is, though, it’s gorgeous.

Right; it’s a present from Japan’s PM.
Maybe the Community Organizer will call for a “die in” or something...
How come he doesn’t have to use 78 pens like Dear Leader Obama?
I say the West should do something IF or WHEN Putin invades Poland. But we’re arguing with the “America - love it leave it” crowd. I used to be one. That was my typical response to everything.
Putin will address the Federal Assembly (Russian parliament) at 15:00 Moscow time on Tuesday March 18.... in connection with Crimeas and Sevastopols appeals for accession to Russia.
I’d be interested in hearing that. No doubt Washington ears will be ‘ON’ to see what Putin has to say...
Wonder if there’s live online from RUssia available...maybe RT will broadcast it..I suspect so.
The “America - love it or leave it” crowd generally is that way around our Sov . . . er, Russians.
Do you ever look at a geographical map? South Ossetia declared independence from Georgia in 1990, as the Republic of South Ossetia. The Georgian government responded by abolishing South Ossetia's autonomy and trying to re-establish its control over the region by force.
As for Chechenya, it is part of Russia since ... the Caucasian War; it was first incorporated as a whole into the Russian Empire in 1859.
Crimea was part of the Russian Empire since ... the Russia-Ottomans war, 1774.

Well said.
Obama’s pundits haven’t think of it.
Putin did.

Just wait until Putin bombs Kiev. Then the Putinistas will wax poetic Nork style. They really do seem to enjoy this carnage. Sad.
