Pro-Russian demonstrators in eastern Ukraine smashed their way into public buildings and burned Ukrainian-language books on Sunday in further protests following two deadly clashes in the region last week.
Protests, some several thousand strong, spread to Russian-speaking southern districts as Ukraine's Crimean peninsula, under the control of the Russian military for two weeks, voted in a referendum on joining Russia.

In Kharkiv, Reuters Television footage showed pro-Russian activists scaling an iron gate, smashing a van and breaking into the offices of a Ukrainian cultural center. Two policemen stood nearby, examining the van.
The footage then showed young men seizing Ukrainian-language books, including a volume devoted to the 1932-1933 man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine, which killed from 7-10 million people.
"Do you see what they print here?" one activist said to another.
The activists then took the books into the street and set them alight in small bonfires...

Russia supports terrorist states like Syria and Iran and organizations across the world, from communist groups to middle eastern terrorists like Hezbollah. Alexander Litvinenko, that fellow poisoned by Polonium 210, claimed that Al-Zawahiri was trained by the FSB. There is a possibility that Russia may have either knew about 9/11 before hand, or gave the order themselves.

The EU was suckered into overplaying their hand by the Maidan protestors. Having the Ukraine in NATO is needlessly provocative and ultimately unstable. Will we go to full-fledged war if Putin decides to invade Ukraine? Is there any support for this? So then why were we so supportive? Only because the hotheads on the ground dictated events.
Now it may be Putin's turn to be suckered into intervening further than intended. Crimea is annexed easily enough, but the Eastern Oblasts have no clear geographical boundary. The further west you go, the more ungovernable the populace becomes. Neither war nor a military frontier is in Putin's interest, or in the West's. If Russian hotheads on the ground dictate events, however, Putin may yet take this strategically poor step.
Whatever to say, Poland has changed within a month beyond recognition. Unbelievable unity all over the country, from the left to the right. The unity that only a totally mental man could believe it a few weeks ago.
All those PC parties that were so kowtowing to Moscow, just like the currently ruling Civil Platform and the vast majority of the mass media, now speak with one hard voice. One of them used such a comparison, “When somebody wants to open the window because it’s too hot inside while somebody else wants to close that window because he feels cold in there, the wrangle is inevitable. However, if somebody else comes from the outside and tries to blow up our house, the entire former argument about the window becomes pointless and even ridiculous.”
Lots of young boys come to military offices to volunteer for the army, to enroll and stand up for the country, although there's no draft now. I can quote a 20-year-old student of the University of Poznan I saw on the main Polish news channel. He said, "I like drinking wine with friends and bopping at parties, but when I hear and see that Western response full of disgusting hypocrisy, I cannot take it anymore. The EU and the NATO have such powerful armies and other weapons that could stop Putin’s at will. However, they will sell Ukraine as soon as the scream in the media subsides, just like they sold Czechoslovakia to Hitler before WWII. That's why I’m here, just because I cannot imagine being elsewhere now.”
But, on the other hand, there's also a gloomy broad feeling that if it comes to the crunch, Poland will be left alone as usual, just like in 1939 :(
The Reuters article this thread links to also stated the stuff burned was taken from Right Sector thugs who had set themselves up in the Ukrainian cultural center. IIRC this is the same location where RS had a gun battle with police a couple of nights ago.
Sadly, I think you're right, despite being a part of NATO. As far as Crimea, I will allow Putin that one...kind of like allowing Hitler the Rhineland...but if he makes more moves, then it will be time to do something, and of course, Poland will respond if Western Ukraine (Galicia) is threatened.
History demonstrates that Russia, NEVER conquered Poland alone, even having a vast advantage in soldiers. This is refreshing. But then again, their 1,800 fully operational nuclear warheads.. :-(

Actually no....the Ukraine Government’s first “change” required all speak Ukrainian which really ticked off most Russians....bad move on Euromadien’s Gov. people because many Russians see them as Neo-Nazi’s....by doing this they were proving them right.
Burning the Ukrainian books was “payback” in the Ukraine’s Government’s face. They made their point well and noted.
Unfortunately many people want to make more of things there then the reality they are...too much speculating and propoganda on both sides.
