Just remember, it’s not TERRORISM unless a properly registered terrorist organization issues an official statement acknowledging the act as their own.

I am still standing by my theory that this plane has landed somewhere, maybe it refueled, or is just sitting there, waiting for things to die down then they will fly it again.

I think it's 50/50 that MA370 is safe on the ground at this point in time. If it is, some kind of accomodation would have to have been planned for the passengers if they are to be seen as hostages. That's quite a crowd to feed and house. Otherwise, the prospects are grim.

Re the pilot who is the possible perp--I posted this on another thread:

Captain Zaharie, with his supreme knowledge of the Triple7 thru actual flight time and uncountable hours on his personal simulator, is the most obvious perp in this case.

Why would he do it?

Seems like a combination of three things may have caused him to snap:

1; Just one day before Flight 370, Zaharie was in the courtroom and witnessed the overturn of a succesful Appeal by his political hero, Anwar Bin Ibrahim, for (allegedly trumped-up)charges of sodomy. Zaharie was shocked and outraged when he witnessed the Malaysian government-controlled High Court sentence Ibrahim to 5 years in prison.

2; His domestic problems came to a boil with wife leaving Zaharie's house with his 3 kids

3; The approaching bankruptcy and closing down of Malaysian Airlines has been zinging around in his head for some time.

Difficult to say just what Captain Zaharie had in mind when he took that outbound left turn, but suicide was not his intention--he was raging to humiliate the present Government of Malaysia for ripping Anwar Bin Ibrahim off the political chessboard.

And, by God, it's working!

What is to be made of this report?

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/17/world/asia/malaysia-airlines-flight.html?hpw&rref=world&_r=0

Commercial passenger planes use radio or satellite signals to send data through ACARS, the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System. The system can monitor engines and other equipment for problems that may need attention when a plane lands.

Although officials had already said that ACARS was disabled on the missing plane, it had previously been unclear whether the system stopped functioning before or after the captain radioed his last, brief words to Kuala Lumpur, in which he did not indicate that anything was wrong with the signaling system or the plane as a whole.

During a news conference on Sunday, the defense minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, who is also acting minister of transportation, gave a terse answer: “Yes, it was disabled before,” he said.

Yeah and I think we can get rid of the idea that this was some kind of pilot suicide..someone doesn’t fly around for 7 hours then decide to kill themselves..from start to finish this was an elaborate plan that was probably gone over again and again..just don’t know what the end game is..are the passengers still alive, probably not because people need food, how are these people being fed..they were probably dumped in a mass grave somewhere..the goal was to get that plane and that is what they got, who knows what their end game plan is for this plane

“There was an FR post earlier today (which has since been pulled) in which an apparent FR aviation expert informed us that the ACARS sends data ONLY on significant events (gear-up, gear-down, achieving cruise) and NEVER on time. So the reports that it sent out data every half hour are wrong - it would not be expected to send out more data until gear-down (which didn’t happen).”

Actually he said that the ACARS sends reports every hour and that the engine monitoring system sends reports on gear-up, cruise and gear-down.

I doubt it. The pilot seems to be the least Muslim and more stable of the two - his much younger co-pilot was known as a “devout Muslim,” which is never a good sign. And don’t tell me he wasn’t “devout” because he invited women into the cockpit ... the 9/11 terrorists spent their last evenings in strip clubs getting lapdances.

This was much more carefully planned and executed than would be true of somebody getting bummed out and deciding on the spur of the moment to “get back” at his government. It also probably took more than one person.

Another factor that we are not considering is that the pilot really loved flying and loved that plane. I’m not a flyer, but I know some, and none of them would take out their plane.

...who knows what their end game plan is for this plane

I'm think the terrorists are acting with State help... Maybe Iran or Pakistan... or others.

Terrorists wouldn't fly south (the easier way) because once there it would be impossible to fly to the secondary crime scene.

Usual targets for terrorists - - New York, London, or Israel can't be hit easily from some island in the Indian ocean. I'm guessing the target is Israel - they wanted to get close. When they started no one was looking for hijacked planes ... That's changed. Terrorists would know they had one shot. That all airspace would be watched from that point forward... They would have to get close to their target on the first try.

Airports in Pakistan can be reached in less than 7 hours. Did either pilot routinely fly the Iran or Pakistan routes from Kuala Lumpur? It would be interesting to know.

I wouldnt be surprised if Pakistan were involved..they issued a statement today, saying they did not receive any radar of this plane, otherwise they would have declared it a threat..yeah I Believe the Pakistani’s, just like they didn’t know where Bin Laden was hiding “Oh you mean Osama Bin Laden, yeah he’s here, we thought you meant the other Bin Laden our mistake”

There remains the problem of Indian and other military radar along the way.

I just read this and it was news to me:

the flight not only made a total U-turn from its planned route but also dipped in between radar points for hours and had all of its tracking systems manually turned off.

All good points in your reply.

Captain Zaharie has been described as a caring family-man sort of guy and someone who delivers food and helps out neighors—so it’s difficult to believe he would harm all the passengers in any way.

But if he was as “fanatical” as described in this article--

Doomed airliner-pilot political-fanatic-attended trial of jailed opposition leader
--then it wasn't a simple "spur of the minute" decision but a serious mental break-down created by internal pressures that rendered him mentally unstable—irrational--criminally insane.

He may have planned to land on some airstrip where he would then gain world-wide publicity, expose the Malay government to ridicule, everyone would be safe and he would simply join his beloved Ibriham in jail. But he never made it to that impossible airstrip in his head.

Re it had to be more elaborate plan needing 2+ hijackers—nothing described by the media so far could not have been accomplished by a single, extremely skilled B777 pilot like Captain Zaharie.

Actually he said...

No, he didn't. Here is a quote from that post:

First, the ACARS. The system has been around since the 70s. It transmits engine data to Boeing/Rolls Royce servers through the Iridium satellite link. But here is the kicker. IT TRANSMITS ENGINE DATA REPORTS AT PRE-SPECIFIED EVENTS,NOT ON TIME. It will send a report at gear up, throttle back meaning cruise achieved (1:07am),and gear down.

ACARS is MUCH more than just engine reporting. But I will leave it up to you to do the research.

I heard on CNN that Pakistan had a radar problem. Possibly to cover up the real story. They allowed MH370 to land.

That's a good idea - voice analysis!

I am so sad about this and the people on the plane..

There was an Israeli news item (I think) I read that said they were sure the plane had reached Iran.

It is just very sad...I don't have much hope for those people being alive now.

The reports I read said the most prominent pilot was an atheist.

There was nothing muslim on his facebook page either.
