A father was dragged from his home and handcuffed in front of his children by a SWAT team looking for his estranged wife to collect her unpaid student loans...
Mr Wright was later told by Stockton police that the order to send in the SWAT team came from The U.S. Department of Education who were looking for his estranged wife to collect defaulted loan payments.

Department of Education, huh?
Well, I’m sho nuff getting schooled.
I also have a Lawyer, one of the best in Mass, waiting to collect his 33% when they sue me and I counter sue. His kid is in medical school and he can use the money.
I noticed that the original article is from the Daily Mail in 2011 and has been removed from their web site. Blogs don’t count for much without some sort of verifiable original source back up. It also helps if the story is current.
My loans are paid up, but maybe I ought to put a a tripwire out for any SWAT teams busting down doors for this type of shit.
I see.
we still pay for an FBI to handle such violations (and the FBI was itself highly controversial at inception, as many objected to the federal government setting up a domestic “police force” along lines similar to the long-standing objections in this country to a “domestic army” — such as, of course, Obama’s desire that he be permitted to build a domestic military force “at least as well equipped as our (foreign) military forces”)
so anyway, now the federal student loan bureaucrats have their own SWAT teams. Something to keep in mind in case any of your kids ever want to apply for this supposed “benefit”...
Shows the mindset of local police these days. Any sane chief would have told the Dept. of Ed., "You've got to be kidding me! I'm not about to activate my SWAT team for this nonsense."
Instead, we're lucky no cop fired a weapon. That's the amazing part of this story, unfortunately.
Don’t believe anything Mr. W. says.
Actually, it was a good lesson for the “kids”—pay up or get rousted.
Can you image the amount of live fire had these LEO raided the daytime workplace, which is a dog pound?
The article I posted had links and references to the Daily Mail story.
The reason I posted an out of date story is that I didn’t see it the first time around and figured most of us on FR didn’t either since it isn’t something that the MSM would think was important. Did yu see it back then?
What with higher than average wages and benefits in government jobs vs. the private sector, that’s a great deal for some of the graduates with degrees in poetry and ethnic or gender studies for example.
Oh, Yes. I was following it from the beginning.
It was a shock then, reported in a few CA papers, but when the revelation came out that almost all federal agencies had similar groups, it became alarming.
