“It is the insurance companies that have to negotiate, all the government did was to dictate that networks have to be up to 50% more inclusive. Providers who were too expensive will now have to be included, the exiting providers will be wanting increases too.”

Which may be straw that causes some/many exchange policy providers to exist stage left, as some have already said they may do anyway if they find they have to raise their rates to untenable levels for 2015.

Quite frankly, this is a very odd time to pile onto the existing exchange providers with a requirement like this when so many of the providers are so shaky. Either obama is a complete, blithering idiot or he’s deliberately trying to drive exchange policy providers out of the exchanges. Regardless of rationale, the result is going to be WAY higher premiums and fewer exchange providers, which is going to be a another major backfire for Democrats come November.

The administration is acting like a pack of rabid weasels, doing anything they can to make the bad things stop.

Obie’s just never been exposed to the concept that actions have consequences at any point is his special little community activist life. So the inevitable premium increases will be described as “unexpected”, and his response will be twofold:

1. Find someone to blame.

2. Issue an edict that consequences are prohibited.

Both actions will be precisely as effective as everything else he’s tried.
