Yesterday South End restaurant Club Cafe announced that it would no longer serve Sam Adams due to the brewer's association with the parade. In an open letter on its facebook page Club Cafe stated that they were "disappointed that Sam Adams does not understand that the organizers of the St. Patrick's Day Parade continue to demonstrate that they do not respect LGBT Irish Americans by excluding LGBT members of this community from openly marching in the St.Patrick's Day Parade."
This morning Sam Adams released a statement that said, in part "We share these sentiments with Mayor Walsh, Congressman Lynch and others and therefore we will not participate in this years parade."

Yes, I do know - I lived there for more than 20 years.
But for 90 Minute IPA, I will forgive him.
Have never tried it, so I will take your word!
Wensleydale is good, but I loved the blue stilton. Yum!
Yup...when Sam Adams ran a commercial that said “We are endowed with certain rights, among them...” specifically censoring the word “God,” I wrote them and said “How dare you censor the Declaration of Independence, Sam Adams himself would be furious at you doing that,” they wrote back and said they didn’t want to be controversial.
I replied by saying “Fine, then do something else, but don’t censor our Declaration of Independence!”
Ed
Now we know why Sam Adams sided with the gay lobby..

Drinking beer in the mode shown in the pic knocks out a lot of ‘Middle Men’ when it comes to body parts.
I guess when you take beer IN an OUT orifice, it is like mainling isn’t it?
Many a ‘San Magoo’ I have consumed went ‘directly’ to the #2 exit AFTER a normal ingestion......
Thing to do is order SA or go into a Subway and before they start, CANCEL the order and let them know why.
Then leave.
Hurts your local, friendly bartender or sandwich maker but that is the start...
Having been close to the subject for a number of years (i.e. the name was ever present in the daily news), it was always the first thing to come to mind whenever I saw a commercial for Sam Adams beer.
So I have resisted, and it seems there is reason to continue to resist.
In 20002002, the company sponsored a radio promotion called "Sex for Sam", in which WNEW radio hosts Opie and Anthony encouraged couples from various states to have sex in notable public places in New York City. On August 15, 2002, a Virginia couple was charged with public lewdness after attempting to have sex in a vestibule at St. Patrick's Cathedral
The parade organizers should go down to his Boston brewery for a tour, identify themselves, and demand to be served.
What is it with corporate America and the gays? Did the gays put themselves on the coporate boards of major corporations? I hope the “fighting Irish” live up to their reputation as fighters. Stand up to these totalitarians.
Gays have a lot of disposable income, they are a marketers’ dream.
I wonder how many South Boston taverns serve Sam Adams?
It’s not like Sam Adams beer is the official beer of the St. Patrick’s day parade.
They responded back with a "so sorry you feel that way" email. They equivocated by saying they need to support their Boston community (what, is all of Boston homo?) and they're still on good terms with the St. Patrick's Breakfast Council or whatever. So I sent back:
You should have said this publicly instead of making it look like you support those who wish to turn a non-political parade into a "promote-my-lifestyle" propaganda issue.
Instead, you let those who wish to make everything about their own political agenda dictate your corporate philosophy. You think you took a stand. Instead, you folded like wet cardboard. Shame on you.
