The sheriff stated that it is their policy that the officers make it home safely, I have heard that excuse a lot over the years and think is the result of the training the police are given by the Feds. My question is doesn’t the public have a right to make it home safely also? It appears that if a cop gets scared all he cares about is his butt, even if it means killing someone who is innocent of any crime. They need to stop blaming the victim and look at their own policies.

This mindset of go home at the end of shift at all costs is costing innocent people's and dog's lives. Question to LEOs: what's your “collateral damage” — that is, body count — for being wrong and killing innocents? Yeah, I know, at least you go home after your shift after committing murder. The cops have pitched the Rule of Law for the Law of the Jungle. That is not VERY comforting.
