By this point it is pretty obvious which way the wind is blowing on same sex marriage. The nations youth is basically unanimous in support of redefining marriage, and every demographic that is not collecting social security is in favor to some extent. More and more Republicans are bailing out from the protect marriage ship and the issue is a clear loser nationally.
Should we change out beliefs as to the sanctity of marriage? No. We can’t. Atleast I can’t, because it is about my faith. But we should recognize we are a minority viewpoint on the issue. Speaking to homosexuals with love and kindness is something we should have been doing to begin with, and we should definitely do it now more than ever. Politically we should stick to our guns but not make this the main issue of national campaigns since its basically a loser.
What do we do now? What we should have done to begin with. Live your faith, be faithful in your marriage, do not engage in homosexuality yourself and teach your kids likewise. Witness to a homosexual, both about his sin and about Christianity in general. Non of this requires state power.
Oh, and God is still in control.
The bottom line is that making it a political issue in the first place degrades the spiritual beliefs that inform one’s opinion of the matter.
It is wrong and we should never just accept it just because some federal judges are abusing their office to impose it on states when these courts have no such power. If the GOP stands up for stopping courts from making laws, then there might be some hope for this country after all
At least you are consistent, and persistent with your message for us to accept gay marriage.
