Not so fast, my friend! (as Lee Corso says) One can enjoy an adult beverage without getting buzzed or drunk. The sole purpose of drugs is to change the brain and mood of the user.
Studies show that heavy marijuana users, particularly those who use it in their teen years, have a high rate of psychological problems, such as schizophrenia, later. It also seems to destroy a person’s drive and ambition.
I find it funny that the people (mostly liberals) who are out to rid the world of cigarette smoking don’t seem to think anything is wrong with smoking a joint. Doesn’t that harm the lungs, too?
And, yes, marijuana has been shown to be a gateway drug. I think we have enough impaired drivers and loonies on the loose without legalizing drugs.
And so has excess alcohol... sigh. We don’t impose quotas yet at liquor emporiums. They won’t sell to a drunk or in most places to someone without an ID card but other than that... pickle your liver all you please.
The sooner we quit demonizing THINGS the sooner we will wake up to responsibility for PEOPLE to use those THINGS in good ways, if at all.

Then why does every DUI class in the country teach that even one beer/drink will affect your judgment?

I can only think of a single person I know that drinks, but doesn’t get buzzed or drunk. The people that I know who don’t want those effects usually don’t drink at all.
Now, I know a lot of people that do drink who think that they never get drunk, but that’s just their imagination.
