No argument from me. The technicians I managed did get overtime pay. They were always eager to do overtime. It was useless to try to get them to finish stuff in regular hours, as they had union protections. For example, one guy would simply drop his toolbag at quitting time regardless of the necessity of finishing critical work and walk away, even though it could have been finished during regular hours if he worked harder. A ploy for me to call him back for overtime. They made a lot of money this way.

No real unions here in GA, at least none with teeth, and no unions at all in my copier industry. I'd drop my toolbag at quitting time too, but that's simply because I won't work unpaid. Right-to-work and at-will make a big difference in the situation.
