Ok, I didn’t read the article, but shouldn’t the response be to anyone defending Bill Clinton, “Hey, I hear he is looking for interns, I sent him your teenage daughter’s contact information.”

In the immortal words of James Ellroy, “actors are f’d-up people.”

Saw the same show. Couldn’t help but think that the old drunken queen was right on that point in spades.

Nobody can do an empty headed look of confusion with a blank stare at the same time the way Nick does.

That talent single handedly made Raising Arizona a great movie.

Are they Blood Hounds? :^)

ha! you should ask that... we are not exactly sure what they are... they showed up in our yard--puppy-ish... no one claimed them... they are and have always been so in sync with each other... we call them the twins... but they do have some hound in them--they have the long hound ears... Truman has a beagle's face, Harper looks more lab... they have lab bodies... they are so sweet...

we chose the names because Harper Lee and Truman Capote were friends since they were children, and both grew up to be writers... and we are a family that loves books... and i am a fan of both Breakfast at Tiffany's and To Kill a Mockingbird... (i found In Cold Blood riveting, but cannot say i am a fan of it)...

"Of all his films, I can watch “Knowing” again. No other is worth the bother."

For me, it's "Vampire's Kiss"....hilarious cult classic.

The whole gay thing is ridiculous but I respect Truman Capote because he came up the hard way and carved out a name for himself. He also carved out a gay reputation for himself back when this was an anti-societal move. Gays are super coddled today compared to what TC lived with. Gay today are spoiled, stupid and petulant. I would not apply this to TC

He was a man who invented himself

SXSW has allowed Hollywood to take over. It’s now nothing but a big studio production. What started out as a venue for “unknowns” trying to break into the biz, has become the barrier they’ve always tried to get over.

It's a good racket. 75 paid employees (full time/part time) and 3000 unpaid volunteers. Corporate sponsorships, benefits from the city, and tens of thousands of hopefuls sending in their paid press kit applications with ZERO chance of ever being booked.

And they've franchised it to other regions as well.

It began as an attempt to highlight regional music to the nation. Now it is a media event to highlight the "next new thing" (already signed) or to promote the new comeback album from someone of yore. Even Johnny Cash played at a punk club in 1994 to highlight his American recordings.

The “film” part began as a screenplay competition. Now it’s a place to showcase big name actors and studio films. There still a few low budget indies but they’re being pushed out. I don’t think they even have the screenplay part anymore. And I don’t think anyone ever got a movie made from a script that one.

Houston’s film festival still boasts a market of movies looking for distributors (both American independent and foreign films).

Sundance is about hyping films that will be released to their theaters, their video label, their cable network, etc.

There are a lot of music documentaries that play SXSW but I don’t know how many go in without already having a distributor and release schedule.
