Final OK for Georgia’s ‘slowpoke’ bill

Left-lane lurkers on Georgia’s highways and interstates are a pen-stroke away from trouble under legislation given final passage Tuesday by the Georgia Senate.

House Bill 459 would allow authorities to ticket those who lollygag in the state’s left lanes. The bill makes it a misdemeanor for any driver on a divided highway who does not move to the right when a car going faster approaches from behind.

With the state House already signing off on the measure, all it needs is Gov. Nathan Deal’s signature to become law.

we don’t need any more government laws. don’t we have enough?too many really. we need to cut back , repeal, privatize. private roads, private hospitals, privatize as much as you can and get governmentS at all levels out of our lives, out the economy , and out of private business’ way. that’s the solution no one is talking about. everyone it seems has their pet peeve they think government can make perfect for them , or some fake crisis like the global warming hoax. actually government and the media and the democrat party are the only real problems we have

it’s a misdemeanor if you don’t get out of the way of someone breaking the law?....No, but it should be a citation.

No, I actually know how to drive, so YOU shut your mouth. And stop impeding traffic.

And if they're over 70, their left blinker will be on.

True, that.

To the best of my knowledge most states have a “slower traffic keep right” law, but it is never enforced....Ever been to PA?

I hope you’re not one of the people that I called the road patrol who believes their job to police the left lane

LOL, nobody said anything about a situation where you are the one trapped behind someone in front of you, or when there is no way to move over.

Thank goodness! But you see, that is exactly what the situation is in many cases. Impatient drivers in the left lane often care little about the situation, they just want everyone out of their way. If I can get over, I do. Thanks for not tailgating, and please drive safely.

Sometimes I wish the speed limits were actually completely enforced for a day. Probably would be 50 million
citations.Might lead to some changes.

You keep describing something that has nothing to do with this thread or the Georgia law.

What you do reveal with your justification in blocking “speeding drivers” and “impatient drivers” in two separate posts, is that you know darn well what you are doing, and you are why the wrote the law.

Might lead to some changes.

True! And what would it be like if everyone in a hurry tried leaving earlier?

Many, many times I have witnessed people going well below the posted speed limit and going 10-20 miles under the posted speed limit. If someone is doing the speed limit, they should move to the right lane unless they are passing slower traffic on the right.

The rule of thumb is:
Keep right except to pass. (nothing difficult about it)

I have also seen people pulling over in front of people trying to pass them on the right.

It’s a good law and I hope they enforce it.

Great! Now Georgia is a nanny state. What a magnificent waste of time for our legislators. God forbid they should be trying to reduce taxes. Nathan Deal should veto it.

What are you talking about, are you angry about something?

Is this how your imagination works when you are driving?
