“The noise in downtown NYC the day of 9/11 when the first passenger plane flew over (right down 5th Avenue) at building top height was deafening.”

That noise also had hundreds of square miles of glass to echo off of.

It’s still loud in the woods at the end of any runway.

It would have been very much out of the ordinary in a rural jungle area. Particularly one far off any flight path.

It’s notable that this particular account doesn’t mention a big ‘kaboom’.
