One more thought: First, according to WXYZ-TV, the woman’s mail was sent to a post office box. And we’ll assume the rental for the box was automatically debited from her account, along with the rest of her bills. Six years worth of mail would be quite a stack—boxes and boxes is more like it. Yet, no one at the post office or the UPS store found it unusual that her mail went unclaimed for all those years.
She probably paid for the PO box a year in advance. Most likely when the rent on the PO box ran out the post office rented it to someone else. Her mail either was thrown out or as Elvis sang “return to sender, address unknown”.
