So, its unlikely they are terrorists, unless this was more elaborate. So what went wrong?

I hope the Iranians ticked off the Chinese!
I suspect the Chinese would take no prisoners except to torture for their amusement.

Wow. There went the terrorist angle so far. Still could be, but less likely. Just some normal illegal immigrants.

There is a good chance this flight was recorded on the radar logs of any US Navy ships that were in the area. Therefore US military intelligence most likely knows what happened to this jet. Also it is not important what the Malaysians say. They have a strong vested interest in claiming that their airports are secure. What is important is what the Chinese believe and how they react.

How does this story alleviate any suspicions?

Did anyone expect the roommate to say “Yes, They were muslim terrorists intent on hijacking the airplane.”?

My crazy theory:
Like ValuJet Flight 592, I believe a malfunction of all electronics on the plane, it doubled back and made landfall in the remote inland swamps. Some areas inland, if he was trying to get back to origination point, are remote and next to inhabited.
4*20’13.90” N
102*29’02.90” E

See reports from eye witnesses at this link. Then map where they were.

Maybe crazy but why not?

That ValuJet Flight 592, crew and passengers are still buried there!
May they rest in peace!

No one should try to interpret what the witness has to offer.

All he knows is what he knows and what the two told him.

At this point, there is no grounds to disbelieve the witness or what the two allegedly told him.

On the other hand, IF, they wanted a cover story, an “old friend” whom they keep in the dark, makes a perfect host in s foreign country, for anyone with ill intentions in the their agenda.

What’s the truth? I think we can’t be sure yet.

Passengers on international flights and voyages with false passports are just not that unusual.
