The other and much more compelling reason is that THEY ALMOST NEVER FACE ANY SIGNIFICANT PERSONAL CONSEQUENCES FOR THEIR ACTIONS. Are they tried and convicted of murder or at the least manslaughter when they wrongfully kill someone?Answer: Almost never.
I know of only two instances in the last six years where cops were convicted of criminal charges in wrongful deaths. The New Orleans Danziger bridge incident and the Atlanta kathryn johnson incident. In both cases the police were not convicted of murder, but things like violation of oath of office which carries a mych lesser sentence.
