As conservative activist groups stirred up trouble for establishment Republican Senate candidates in 2010 and 2012, party leaders in Washington first tried to ignore the insurgents, then tried to reason with them, and ultimately left it to primary voters to settle the matter. [ ]
This election season, Republicans led by Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky are taking a much harder line as they sense the majority within reach. Top congressional Republicans and their allies are challenging the advocacy groups head on in an aggressive effort to undermine their credibility. The goal is to deny them any Senate primary victories, cut into their fund-raising and diminish them as a future force in Republican politics.
I think we are going to crush them everywhere, Mr. McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, said in an interview, referring to the network of activist organizations working against him and two Republican incumbents in Kansas and Mississippi while engaging in a handful of other contests. I dont think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.

Just see my tag line as to why this is.
They are the Uniparty.
Dream on Mitchie!
Yikes! Sounds like weirdness runs in the family.
We true conservatives HAVE to work together and NOT allow rinos to win. If we can’t narrow our many conservative pick down to one or maybe two before the primary, we lose. The rinos have or will soon have their pick and will count on us diluting conservatives pick. I’m convinced that they purposely put people in to run who are very left to say their chosen candidate is a centrist, even if he’s a rino. All they need is one or two to do this. Portman, huntsman....
If conservatives don’t come to a consensus, we will lose. I Wish conservatives could have a pre-primary where rinos could not vote, before the actual primary. Cpac was filled with rinos and rand Paul supporters. Ron has passed the crown to his son Rand. I would love to see heritage or another true conservative org have a conservative debate and candidates involve must take certain stands. Anyone invited must have proven themselves by their past actions. No romney sudden conversions allowed.
He does. He enjoys it very much. He gets to keep his Senatorial perks, and has to do nothing at all to get them. It's called a "sinecure."
I agree with you. That’s why Senators and Congressmen make horrible presidents. We need a conservative president who can LEAD this country, not some squish senator.
If the DNC infiltrated DNC agents as Trojan Horses into the Repub Party leadership, we would see Republican leaders like Boner & McSurrender (Repub leaders joining the Dems in attacking the Republicans, as Boner and McSurrender continue to do...their motto: “If you are not a Dem, the Repub Party does not want you.).
Rubio is my Senator and I will never vote for him for any office ever again. He lacks the principles to be a leader due to past surrender on immigration reform. I will not trust the GOP to properly lead in the Senate w/o a healthy insurgency of Tea Party principled folks.
Let them, I for one will never again vote for a Crat again. So the Rats win that race, what`s the f-ing difference!
“This is so blatantly unprofessional of Sen.McConnell to have said this to the NYTimes, I suspect their reporters collected the quote from someone else or likely made it up.”
You give Ole Run-for-the-Rear McConnell way too much credit. This sounds exactly like McConnell, and fits in with a number of similar remarks he has made this campaign season according to more than one source.
McConnell and the Chamber of Commerce have made no secret that they are out to defeat conservatives/Tea Partiers.
That had to be one of her best digs ever!
