KUALA LUMPURA Vietnamese search aircraft located fragments Sunday floating in waters off southern Vietnam that are suspected of coming from a Malaysia Airlines 3786.KU 0.00% jetliner that went missing a day earlier with 239 people on board.
The fragments were believed to be a composite inner door and a piece of the tail, Vietnam's ministry of information and communication said in a posting on its website. They were located about 50 miles south-southwest of Tho Chu island.
Officials released photograph of one fragment floating in the water. Malaysia Airlines said it had received no confirmation regarding the suspected debris. Flight MH370 went missing early Saturday on a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing and ships and planes scouring the waters had been unable to find it. Vietnam said earlier in the day that a Singaporean aircraft had found a yellow floating object south-southwest of Thu Chu and dispatched ships toward the area. Singapore has declined to comment.
The Vietnamese statement said that the aircraft could not land near the objects to investigate them further because of darkening conditions but would continue the identification process Monday morning.
The disappearance of the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing triggered a search and rescue operation across portions of the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea, involving the armed forces of several nations, including the United States, Malaysia, Vietnam and China.

The FDR records specific aircraft performance parameters such as altitude, speed and a host of other functions, so if there was a sudden nosedive it would show it.
The CVR records sounds in the cockpit and radio transmissions.
So, theoretically, yes.
What military staff was on board?
> A European security official said it wasn’t uncommon for passengers to board flights using stolen passports...................WTF!
Think that’s bad, illegal aliens can vote another illegal immigrant in as president in our country wirh NO ID. In fact, they will pay you to board a bus and do it!

I think there’d still be evidence shown to traffic controllers of the aircraft’s descent. Apparently, it just disappeared at 35,000 ft. altitude. My current theory is what most suspect; A huge explosion at altitude.

Here's the pic that has been released of potential debris seen by the Vietnamese aircraft:
I'll take that bet. It's around 800 miles from Chinese territory to the crash site.
As it is headed down at 500+ Kts? Just happened to have a drone with Mavericks within 20 miles or so? What military shot it down? A drone would have to be us. This is as bad as the Nork missile from 2600 miles or a Chink SA missile from 800.
A 777 is a monster. It probably can still fly after getting a missile strike. The crew would have gotten off at least a Mayday call.
What would be the motive? They were no where near China.
It would make more sense to inquire as to the whereabouts of the USS Vincennes.
Except nothing supports that. No satellites picked up a big boom and the plane has something that sends a signal saying it made an impact. The signals didn’t happen.
I'm guessing you missed the part of it being 800 miles. Please tell me any SA missile with an 800 mile range. I'll buy anyone having one. Where is the detection? Is the radar on Mt Everest? The best SA missile the chinks have a 130# + or - warhead which would obliterate an 500 kt target, unfortunately its range in less than 65 miles. In range there wouldn't be nothing from the target especially considering the aerodynamic forces acting upon a body blasted with 130# of HE.
Hijackers can disable some of these systems but it’s more likely this aircraft was blown to bits.
Chinese passenger jet carrying 220 people in near miss with North Korean missile
North Korea is on the list of suspects, here.
The Nork Navy's most notable achievement was sinking the USS Baltimore in 1950, which never happened, since the Baltimore was never deployed to Korea.
But I'm sure the they've got the Gulf of Thailand well covered with missile boats capable of bagging airliners. And no doubt wasting 150 Chinese citizens would fit right in with their foreign policy goals.
I think it’s some type of mechanical failure myself.
Even a 130lb warhead will not obliterate something as large as a 777. Most air defense warheads are designed to destroy high speed maneuvering targets so the warheads use some type of shrapnel or expanding wire devices. The odds of hitting a small target is very slim. They rely on proximity fuzing instead of direct hits.
That warhead has both a proximity and contact fuse, the destruction of the jet would come as the structural failure was acted upon by the aerodynamic force of the 500kts. Structural failure at altitude would account for the no call on guard, the disappearance on the radar, which I think is overblown and the fact they haven’t located debris from the plane yet. Add that it went down in a sewer full of flotsam and jetsam anyway, I’m not surprised they haven’t found jack yet.
One ‘flight depiction’ has it ‘disappearing’ near Hainan Island instead of SW of Viet Nam. In which case, they are 800 miles off.
Black boxes should be pinging away though.
There's so much shot-down sh!t around Vietnam, how can they tell?
